Wenlock Poetry is a registered arts charity based in Much Wenlock, Shropshire. Building on the work of Wenlock Poetry Festival (1999-2016), we support contemporary and community poetry in our rural county.
Originally an annual festival, Wenlock Poetry was set up in 1999 by Anna Dreda (Owner of Wenlock Books). Over seven years, the festival grew to attract the best of contemporary poetry to Much Wenlock. Performers such as Lemn Sissay, Carol Ann Duffy, Gillian Clarke, Simon Armitage, Michael Rosen, Andrew McMillan and Holly McNish have graced the Wenlock Poetry stage. Alongside poetry performances, Wenlock Poetry has facilitated community projects, commissioned artists and funded poetry events around the county.
